Tillandsia, commonly known as air plants, is a genus of over 650 species of epiphytic plants in the Bromeliaceae family. These plants are native to the forests, deserts, and mountains of Central and South America. Tillandsia plants are unique in appearance, with long, narrow leaves that can be green, gray, or even red. Their leaves are often covered in tiny scales or hairs that help the plant absorb moisture.

Tillandsia is an easy plant to cultivate and can be grown both indoors and outdoors (in summer). They require bright, filtered light and do well in areas with high humidity. Air plants can be grown in terrariums, on pieces of driftwood, or other decorative objects. They attach themselves to their host using their roots, which mainly serve to anchor themselves in place. Tillandsia absorbs water and nutrients through its leaves, which can be misted or dunked in water with RAIN MIX fertiliser to keep the plant happy.

One of the most fascinating things about Tillandsia is that they are epiphytes, which means that they grow on other plants or objects without harming them. They can attach themselves to a tree branch, for example, and grow there without harming the tree. This makes them an interesting and unique addition to any plant collection. Whether you are a seasoned plant enthusiast or just starting out, Tillandsia is definitely worth considering.
